Demystifying the Ask: The Art and Science of Making Face-to-Face Requests

This class will focus on the request process -  from readying your request team - to setting the meeting - to making the request - to closing the gift.  Students will learn specific strategies and sample "ask" lines, as well as how to handle timing and common responses.  Students will have the opportunity to craft, vet, and rehearse their own real request, and are asked to come prepared with a donor in mind (no names, of course!), whom they would realistically like to approach.  Our goal is craft a compelling and personalized request plan that can be implemented in the near-team to successfully leverage an individual gift.
